From nervous beginner to publisher insider: Week Two as a German Intern Experience in IrelandHello everyone,&nbsp;Today are the last few hours of my internship with ShadowScript Wordsmiths, the end of an era some might say or the start of something new. Over my past weeks here in Ireland I have developed as a person and flourished in my new working environment. Looking back at my time here, I am extremely grateful for all the amazing opportunities which were presented to me and all the incredible people I was given the chance to work with. I don’t think this experience could have been any better. Across the two weeks I developed many skills and have worked on them from week one to week two.<figure id="figure-p6zbnm76glmpu4fuyd"><img id="p6zbnm76glmpu4fuyd" src="https://cdn.durable.co/blocks/39vwwnaqCxFP8Rx1h5N3tOt7blp8t72F5tZEjT0K5t2I6xulCfKsnbsfe0RWHmKI.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 " style="aspect-ratio: 1/1; object-position: undefined undefined;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="1:1" data-caption="" data-positionX="undefined" data-positionY="undefined" data-fullWidth="false"/></figure> Last first dayIn the final days of my first week, I was given a manuscript to work through. This I continued to do in my second week with it being my main task for the first day. The main advice given to me in order to edit this manuscript was to be as honest as possible. Without honesty, improvement cannot happen. Still, at first it was not easy to do as it felt harsh at times. However, after spending a day in front of the screen reading through sentences, pages, chapters, I had worked my way through the day and saw how my comments might well improve the manuscript.&nbsp;In order to complete the chapter of my first day, I had my daily task; make a video on the day's events. With the sun shining in my face and baby foxes jumping around me as though they had no care in the world, I created my video. With such great, unusual weather in Ireland, I could not miss my opportunity to use the brilliant weather in my video. As expected, the sunrays put a spotlight on my newest video.&nbsp; Taking Publishing on the RoadAfter staying in Dublin over the weekend, I hopped on the train early in the morning &nbsp;to return to Galway and the ShadowScript headquarters. However, I could not only start working once I got there - that would have given me two hours of rest. Impossible. Therefore, I had brought with me ‘Aspects of Irish Agriculture - A Year inBblogs’ by Anne Hayden, a ShadowScript author. Sitting on the train, with the Irish fields and landscapes passing by, I thought this would be a great fit. From time to time, I would look out of the window and see what I was reading right in front of me. Magical. As many say “May the mist of Irish magic shorten every road.” and I really believe this is true from what I saw.&nbsp;Once completing my read, I was not able to immediately create a video due to the amount of noise and people surrounding me. Therefore, I opened my laptop and set to work on the task that was constantly hovering over me; the manuscript. Looking through it, I made some constructive comments on the sections I thought appropriate. For me, this task has been incredibly interesting by seeing how the initial ideas of an author are consistently changed and improved.Upon my arrival at the train station, after a long two hour ride which I was luckily able to fill with work, I was greeted by my boss, Niall, Head of Client Advocacy at the ShadowScript Group. On such an amazing sunny day, we could not miss the opportunity to work in the warmth of the sun and film more videos in the great outdoors. I read the book ‘Exploring Connectedness: Millennials and Gen Z’, written by Darina Callanana and Susan McKenna. I was lucky enough to be able to work with Susan over the past two weeks and have learnt a great deal from her and about her work.&nbsp; From Meeting to InvestigatingWhen speaking of incredible people, I had the pleasure of having a client meeting with author Karen Gallen who wrote the book ‘Here I am, but am I Here?’. During my meeting with her, I was able to get answers on her experience of being an author and expressing her experience in a book. Up until then, I was only exposed to the publisher's side of the process and it was very interesting to learn about the other side of the picture. Another point on my ‘To Do’ list ticked.It was a great experience to meet a ShadowScript client in person. I had previously met a few online, however it was a very different feeling meeting them in person. It allowed the conversation to flow easily.In a process of reflection, I wrote a blog on our discussion, emphasising how much I had learnt from the author. However, this was not the only exciting part of my day. At the start of my internship, I was given the task to find the graves of two young Germans who had travelled to Ireland and never left. ShadowScript poet John Ennis, wrote a poetry book on their story so they would not be forgotten but he could not find their final resting place. Therefore, I had been searching without much luck for one and a half weeks in order to complete my task. Nevertheless, through perseverance and critical thinking, I was able to uncover the mystery before me. This left a profound sense of achievement to the end of the day.Yet, before putting down my pen for the day, I still had one task to complete. I had read a book the day before on the train but had not had the chance to complete my review for it. That was what had been left to do. A Poetic Farewell&nbsp;On the 28th of May was Ireland poetry day with the theme being home. To find a poem that relates to my home was very straightforward: &nbsp;German, well known and absolutely not sad. Therefore, I went with the poem ‘Er Ists’ by Eduard Moerike, 1829. With thoughts of spring, happiness, and anticipation swirling in my mind, I created a video of my poetry reading in the morning. Almost instantly afterwards, my lovely host gave me a large insight on Galway; she brought me to Pascal's pancakes. I have to say it gave me a great insight on how it would be to live in Galway on a day to day basis and exactly where to get good food.&nbsp;On my way back from breakfast, I was called back into work to give a detailed account of my findings on the previous day. Then, we took it a step further and decided to find out more about these two young Germans. I searched multiple newspaper archives without so much as a glimpse of the names I was looking for. Then Niall came over like a good luck charm and the articles I had been looking for appeared on my screen. What luck!&nbsp;Once I got over the surprise and excitement of finding more than I had to, I returned back to my normal routine. Read a book, make notes, make a video. However, this was slightly different as instead of one book I was given seven. The ‘Mental Health for Millenials’ series! This was a series with a large contribution of authors over a large span of time, the first book published in 2017 and the last one in 2023. After I flicked through and skimmed all the books, I made my video, closing the chapter on my video process of the last two weeks. And just like that it’s a wrap! A Heartfelt Thank youAs my two-week internship has come to an end, I would like to say thank you to the whole ShadowScript group for giving me such a great experience, opening doors for my future, and allowing me to flourish in a new environment. This internship exceeded all of my expectations and looking back, I would not have changed a thing. From the people I have met to the work I was allowed to do, all has changed me in a positive way, and I think I am going back to Germany as a more confident and self assured person. I am originally from Germany and my school wants us to gain real workplace experience and explore possible career interests. I knew immediately that I did not want to stay in Germany as travelling to new places and getting to know new people is what I really enjoy. Additionally, I have always liked books and writing. I was curious to understand the business behind it all. Therefore, ShadowScript seemed to be the perfect fit for me. So, I applied, waited, and got the internship. Now, after travelling across Ireland, from Dublin to Galway and back again, I have officially completed my first week interning with the ShadowScript Group. It was an extremely eventful week. Thanks to my boss’s hands-on approach, I did not just sit around watching. I was involved from the get-go in everyday work, in which I learnt numerous skills, such as content creation, and was able to apply these in my work. Through this first week, the publishing world has become less of a mystery to me but rather a complex puzzle which requires countless people and dedicated hours of hard work to solve. Definitely an experience one cannot get in a classroom. Weekend Work Upon landing at Dublin Airport on Saturday, the 16th of May, I received a warm welcome and was promptly driven to Galway with a stop at the ShadowScript headquarters. Here I met my boss, Dr Niall MacGiolla Bhuí, Head of Client Advocacy at the ShadowScript Group, and already got involved in the preparations for the next day’s book launch. A publisher's work never ceases; not even on a weekend. As my first proper task for ShadowScript, I was to attend a book launch, on the Sunday after my arrival. I was delighted to attend the book launch as it had been on my ‘To Do’ list for this internship. So one box checked off. The book launch was interesting, lively, and full of joy as Katherine Scanlon’s new book, ‘Clipper the Hurl’s Campsite Adventures,’ was presented. For most of the book launch, I was managing the book sale with a ShadowScript published author, Anne Hayden. This task allowed me to understand the logistical organisation that goes into planning a book launch rather than just the execution. I actually enjoyed this task very much as it allowed me to have an overview of the entire book launch and to quickly get in contact with the people attending the launch, which was extremely rewarding for my first day at work. However, this was not my only task on that day. I had the great honour of performing a small speech in front of those who came and presented the author with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Previously , I had not spoken publicly and in person as a member of the ShadowScript Group, therefore, this small moment created a strong sense of belonging and a drive to perform well for the rest of the week. *Lesson learnt: Communication is key. Monday–Tuesday Review Marathon On Monday, the real work began. I was given a bag full of books published by ShadowScript Publications to read and review. I am still working my way through them (as you can imagine!), all of which are interesting and great reads. I started the day off with reading one of the books until meeting with Niall to discuss it and plan the tasks for the day. The discussions I had and have with Niall are one of the most valuable parts of the internship. His insightful and clear way of explaining what goes on in the company and how their books are published allowed me to absorb a large amount of information that I find extremely interesting. In turn, I was able to use this information in the social media book reviews which are my daily tasks. On Monday, I began lightly with two video reviews; one in German and one in English. The number of videos was then tripled the next day with a personal record of 6 videos on three different books. This large amount allowed me to learn how to quickly read and review a book, whilst making the review short and easy to understand in an Instagram video. In between all the videos, there were sprinkles of visiting bookstores and cafés all around Galway which allowed me to immerse myself into Irish culture, adapting to new social norms. With his extensive knowledge of the history and cultural aspects of Galway, Niall was able to teach me all about the city which only increased my intrigue to know more about the place. *Lesson learnt: There is no better way to understand the work of a publishing house than by reading, discussing and reviewing their books. Midweek Hurling Madness On Wednesday of the week, I returned to ShadowScript’s headquarters to complete some of my work there. I have to say, the most exciting part of that day was using Irish public transport for the first time on my own. There was a strong difference to the German transport I am used to. However, this did not overshadow the rest of my day. After reading ‘More than the Match’ by Dr Niall MacGiolla Bhuí and Aoibheann NicGiolla Bhuí, I completed another online book review. The book was informative and thought provoking, changing my own perspective of overall sports. With a link to the book, I was then taught all about the GAA and even had my own private camogie lessons. Although not the best at the sport, I did thoroughly enjoy my time playing and learning about it. *Lesson learnt: Always try something yourself before trying to explain it to others Thursday Drafts &amp; Manuscripts Similarly to the start of the week, with the beautiful view of the Galway docks in front of me, I reviewed one more book and created a video for it. This book was called ‘Fireborn’ by ShadowScript author, Cullen Kennedy. Once completed, a new task arose for me which was again on my ‘To Do’ list: read and review a manuscript. This was especially exciting as I had always had published stories in my hands. Now, I had the opportunity to look at an unpublished book and give my contribution to it which made the little girl inside of me squeal with joy. Over the course of the day, I was able to get through a couple of chapters and give constructive feedback where I thought it would be helpful. In the week to come I will consistently look through the manuscript whenever time allows it and develop my analysis and critical thinking skills by reviewing other people's work. An eventful day full of learning and experiences. *Lesson learnt: Make a plan beforehand of what you want to do. It is already Friday! On my final day of the week, I can look back and say with certainty that the work I have done has aided me in so many aspects. Not only working with the ShadowScript Group but also being part of the team has not only given me insights into the business behind creating books but also allowed me to explore opportunities I had not even considered before. ShadowScript has brought my digital footprint to new levels, allowing for a better online image for my future. Furthermore, I was able to learn an abundant amount about Irish culture and develop social and analytical skills throughout the week. This first week has given me so many experiences already and I am really looking forward to the new discoveries and contributions I will make next week. *Lesson learnt: Time flies!

‘Who Would have Noticed Another Madman Around Here?’ Four Decades on from Blackadder &nbsp; I met up with a friend from our undergraduate liberal arts degree time in university over the weekend and, as always, we got chatting about the ‘old days’. It’s difficult to conceive of a time in university with no smartphones, tablets or MacBooks, no digital currency to pay, no screens in fast food outlets and limited access to television in our bedsits and shared housing. But, my friends, we had gems amongst us in those days and perhaps none more than the BBC series, Blackadder in all its glory. We sat through each episode and marvelled at the script writing, the acting, the humour, the pathos, the cynicism and the poking in the eye of authority and establishment.&nbsp; Of all the series and the episodes, the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth achieved something almost impossible. It took a very British sitcom, what I might term a savage, clever, gloriously cynical British comedy and ended it with one of the most devastating anti-war statements ever put on television. And this was at a time where we were in a depressed socio-economic era yet again.&nbsp; For years, Blackadder had mocked history. Kings were idiots, nobles were frauds, generals were buffoons, and survival belonged only to the sharp-tongued cynic standing in the middle of the madness. Or did it? In the final moments of “Goodbyeee,” the laughter stopped. Completely. And, I think it’s fair to state, that forty years later, it still lands like artillery. First broadcast in 1989, Blackadder Goes Forth was set in the trenches of the First World War. Rowan Atkinson’s Captain Edmund Blackadder is trapped in a world governed by absurdity: endless offensives, pointless deaths, and catastrophically incompetent leadership. Around him orbit the childish optimism of Lieutenant George, the dim but hilarious fatalism of Baldrick, and the terrified officiousness of the pampering Captain Darling. Above them all stands General Melchett, a walrus-moustached aristocratic fool directing slaughter from the safety of a château miles behind the lines. The joke, of course, is that the joke was at least partially true depending on whose version of history one reads. The ‘Great War’ (a title I’ve always detested) led to industrialised death on a scale Europe had never seen. Between 1914 and 1918, around 20 million people died. Entire villages lost all their young men with Britain alone losing nearly a million soldiers. France lost so many soldiers that some regions have never recovered demographically. Germany emerged shattered, bitter, and primed for another catastrophe just two decades later.&nbsp; The Western Front became a machine for converting human beings into mud. The Somme. Verdun. Passchendaele. Names that still sound like open wounds. And yet the war was all-too-often directed by men educated in nineteenth-century ideas of honour and cavalry while wielding twentieth-century technology: machine guns, barbed wire, poison gas, heavy artillery. Soldiers advanced in lines against weapons capable of mowing them down by the thousands in hours. And they did.&nbsp; Blackadder’s bitter genius was recognising that the war’s horror and its absurdity were inseparable. For most of the series, the comedy acts like emotional armour. Blackadder sneers because sincerity is impossible in hell. Baldrick survives because he barely understands the situation. George clings to patriotism because the alternative is terror. Even Darling’s pathetic ambition becomes understandable. Everyone is just trying to survive the machinery around them as individuals but caught up collectively. The writing by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton understood something essential about trench warfare: boredom and stupidity were not interruptions to horror. They were part of it. Soldiers spent weeks waiting, freezing, rotting, joking, smoking, and trying not to think about the whistle. War is not constant heroism as we are led to believe by the propagandists. Mostly, it is waiting for random death. For me, the episode’s emotional power comes from the gradual collapse of the show’s comic defences. One by one, the characters stop pretending. George finally realises he is going to die. Darling admits he is frightened. Blackadder himself, the man who always has another scheme, runs out of exits. His final line before going over the top is perfectly written precisely because it is so understated: “Good luck, everyone.” No speech. No patriotic swell. No glorious rhetoric. Just resignation. And, then comes the scene that was so difficult to watch. A whistle blows in the distance. The men climb from the trench. It’s all in slow motion. We hear gunfire. Cut to a field of poppies with no laugh track we had become so used to throughout the series. No punchline. No return. Just silence. I would argue in any pub, parish hall or meeting room that it remains one of the greatest endings in television history because it refuses comfort. There is no triumph. No meaningful victory for the individuals we have come to love. History crushes them without even noticing. Now, I’ve read that the transition from battlefield to poppy field was reportedly created partly because the filmed explosion sequence looked unconvincing (and, to be fair, it did). Happily, budget limitations accidentally produced poetry. The dissolve into flowers feels less like death than memory itself softening horror into symbol. But beneath the beauty lies accusation. These men did not have to die and that’s the episode’s central rage. Historians still debate whether Blackadder Goes Forth unfairly caricatured British generals as ‘donkeys leading lions’. Some argue the series reinforced myths about total incompetence and futile sacrifice while ignoring the strategic complexities of the war. And they have a point as the reality was more complicated. The British Army adapted enormously between 1914 and 1918 with many commanders learning quickly under impossible circumstances. Germany was hardly led by geniuses either. The war became a brutal contest of industrial endurance where every side was trapped inside systems larger than themselves. But emotionally and morally Blackadder captured a truth statistics cannot. The individual soldier rarely experiences war as grand strategy. He experiences fear, mud, confusion, bureaucracy, and arbitrary death. The series understood that governments speak in abstractions while ordinary people bleed in particulars and, sadly, that lesson did not end in 1918. It seems the twentieth century learned nothing quickly. Within twenty years came another global war, even more mechanised and catastrophic. Then Korea. Vietnam. Afghanistan. Iraq. Syria. Yemen. Ukraine. Gaza. Different flags. Ho-hum.&nbsp; Every generation insists its wars are uniquely necessary, uniquely moral, uniquely unavoidable. Sometimes they are necessary. Fascism had to be fought. Genocide cannot simply be negotiated away. Some conflicts are forced upon nations. But every war also arrives wrapped in language designed to make death digestible. We hear phrases like ‘strategic necessity’, ‘collateral damage’, ‘limited operation’ and ‘surgical strikes’. The vocabulary changes but the mourning does not. Perhaps the single genius of Blackadder Goes Forth is that it strips away all abstraction. It reminds us that every communiqué, every military briefing, every map marker eventually resolves into frightened young people waiting for explosions. And still we continue. Incredibly, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has returned trench warfare to Europe artillery duels, mud, drones hovering over shattered ground, soldiers living underground for months. Images from Bakhmut sometimes resemble photographs from the Somme with updated technology. In Gaza, civilians are trapped inside devastation measured in rubble and funerals. In Sudan, families disappear into famine and displacement while much of the world barely notices. Across the globe, war persists because human beings remain extraordinarily talented at turning political failure into organised killing. Technology evolves faster than wisdom. It always has. Most anti-war art eventually becomes historical and belongs to a particular conflict. Blackadder Goes Forth escaped that trap because it was not really about 1917. It was about the permanent machinery of war. About leaders insulated from consequences. About patriotism colliding with reality. About ordinary people swept into events they did not create. And about the very thin line between comedy and despair. That final fade into poppies still hurts so much because we recognise all-too-well the pattern. We know there are always more trenches to be dug somewhere in the world. More young men desperately joking to hide fear. More civilians and politicians convincing themselves that this slaughter will somehow end slaughter forever. History keeps changing uniforms while repeating idiotic dialogue. And perhaps that is why the episode matters more now, not less. Because in an age of livestreamed conflicts, drone footage, propaganda feeds, and algorithmic outrage, Blackadder Goes Forth still insists on the one thing war depends upon us forgetting: The dead were individuals before they became numbers. ‘Who Would have Noticed Another Madman Around Here?’ Indeed.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Heavy curtains, like tapestries, cloaked her squinting windows, Her nurse friends were on day duty to jaundiced invalids. Her primrose cup in the sink wore the faint lips of destruction. Cold tap water dripped incessantly over the brim. Ran down along the crack’s indentations as secretions will. Rugged beauty and gorse realism lit Brandon on her face. Words passed there like clouds as she frowned on my youth. Her limbs were like the Kerry coast, spume-ridden elation. I wanted to ease myself into her Listowel, Her undulations of dune and short-cropped grasses. She said she would like to be buried in the sandhills. We parroted on with a dual sense of urgency. Ahead of the publication of our book, 'Threads of Trauma' next month, here's some material on the period in Northern Ireland referred to as the 'Troubles'. We included a couple of chapters on this theme, from two different perspectives, as we felt this is an area deserving of more attention.&nbsp;<figure id="figure-lksdbx1p0wmnxfgdpt"><img id="lksdbx1p0wmnxfgdpt" src="https://cdn.durable.co/covers/24s5pfHwRjdzZlHrvPJ1VU0Ma5fTDt8IoP9IRaxKrRVC4wpWj3U7rEg066967qPc.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 " style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionX="undefined" data-positionY="undefined" data-fullWidth="false"/></figure>The protracted conflict in Northern Ireland, commonly referred to as the 'Troubles,' which persisted from the late 1960s to the late 1990s, has left a lasting legacy of psychological trauma that continues to impact multiple generations of the populace. This conflict serves as a significant case study for comprehending the ramifications of prolonged civil unrest on mental health and overall well-being within diverse communities.The prevalence and ramifications of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from the Troubles remain substantial even decades after the cessation of hostilities. Studies indicate that a considerable segment of the Northern Irish populace still grapples with PTSD, with approximately 4.74% of the weighted population meeting the criteria for current PTSD, and nearly 60% of those afflicted identifying the Troubles as their most severe traumatic encounter, notwithstanding the passage of several decades since the conflict [1].&nbsp;Among older individuals exposed to the conflict, around 11.5% satisfy clinical criteria for current PTSD, with a significant majority (85.9%) of those exposed to Troubles-related trauma refraining from seeking professional assistance, despite 59.1% meeting criteria for a lifetime mental disorder [2]. This underscores a notable treatment gap and an ongoing public health concern.In addition to emotional distress, trauma exposure has been linked to discernible cognitive repercussions. Individuals with PTSD exhibit a reduction in verbal recall abilities compared to those without PTSD, as evidenced by recalling approximately half a word less on verbal recall tests, alongside lower scores on global cognitive assessments such as the Mini Mental State Examination and Montreal Cognitive Assessment [1]. These cognitive deficiencies appear to reflect a broad impact of trauma on cognitive function among older adults at a population level [3].The gender-specific dimensions of trauma experienced by women during the Troubles have historically been marginalised, despite the widespread nature of their suffering. The conflict witnessed systemic conflict-related sexual violence perpetrated by both state and non-state actors [4]. Literary analyses exploring women's trauma portrayals reveal that female characters encountered distinct psychological traumas, strained familial ties, and grappled with societal expectations while navigating daily life amidst violence [5]. Women also endured various forms of gender-based harm, encompassing sexual violence, physical abuse, verbal aggression, and psychological torment [6].The psychological repercussions of the 'Troubles' extend to suicide and self-harm, with Northern Ireland reporting elevated suicide rates. The incidence of registered suicides escalated from 143 in 1996 to 318 in 2015, with exposure to the Troubles recognised as a notable risk factor alongside trauma, mental disorders, socioeconomic deprivation, and substance abuse [7].&nbsp;Early-life adversities, including parental dysfunction, maltreatment, and economic struggles, in conjunction with exposure to the conflict, substantially elevate the risk of developing PTSD, particularly among females and individuals exposed to the conflict, heightening their lifetime PTSD susceptibility [8].Veterans residing in Northern Ireland confront compounded trauma exposure, with research delineating three distinct trauma categories among this cohort, wherein 10.84% endured high multitrait trauma exposure [9]. Conflict-related trauma emerged as a significant independent predictor of recidivism among individuals with prior violent convictions [10].The enduring consequences of the 'Troubles' persist in disability rates, with heightened exposure to the conflict amplifying the probability of disability benefit receipt by 21 percentage points among older working-age individuals, significantly impacting mental health outcomes [11]. We do a lot of work with The Informed Farmer Consultancy in Dublin and had a conversation yesterday with the founder, Anne, on the theme of the recent fuel protests around he country and how this might all play out in the medium to longer term. One theme that deserves a greater lens is that of suicide amongst the Irish farming community. On a broader scale, the Republic of Ireland witnesses an average of 26 farmer suicides annually [2].Analysis of coronial data spanning from 2015 to 2018 reveals that male farmers represented 8% of all male probable suicides in the Republic of Ireland [3]. While the overall suicide rate among farmers (31.5 deaths per 100,000) was not significantly higher than that of non-farmers (23.6 per 100,000), a distinct disparity emerges when scrutinising age-specific data [3].A critical concern pertains to older farmers, as evidenced by the stark contrast in suicide rates. Farmers aged over 65 exhibited a rate of 29.2 deaths per 100,000, which is more than twice the rate observed among non-farmers in the same age bracket (14.3 deaths per 100,000) [4]. Studies consistently highlight alarming rates of mental health challenges within the farming community, including high levels of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms [1]. Furthermore, sleep disturbances and burnout are prevalent issues among Irish farmers, with significant implications for their mental and physical well-being [6].Various stressors unique to the farming profession contribute to the mental health vulnerabilities of Irish farmers. Financial strain, concerns regarding government policies related to climate change, and apprehensions about farm sustainability are identified as the primary stress-inducing factors impacting farmers [1]. Farmers are considered a hard-to-reach demographic due to occupational constraints, limited regional mental health resources, and the prevailing culture of stoicism and self-reliance in farming communities [8]. Suicide prevention efforts should be tailored to the unique cultural characteristics of the farming population, emphasising education, training initiatives, and community-centered interventions to address the escalating rates of mental health issues and suicide attempts among farmers [8].&nbsp;This is a national issue.
